Profile
Interim CTO. Twenty years putting ageing products, stalled R&D organisations and pre-investment companies back into a state where they can ship, certify and raise. Recalled to executive committees more than once, including by a former chief executive, to lead the technology cycle a company cannot finish on its own, for boards, investors and executives, in founder-led, LBO-backed and institutional environments.
Sectors: mission-critical and life-critical software (blood and cell therapy management, medical imaging, banking and payments, specialty retail, sovereign public systems). Engaged for turnaround and crisis management, transformation and modernisation, regulatory clearance, GenAI advisory and investment readiness. I diagnose under pressure, rebuild team and technology in parallel, and hand back an organisation that delivers. Business outcomes: new markets opened, new revenue lines created, cost of ownership reduced, and a majority acquisition by a global investor supported by technical due diligence.
Technical profile: hands-on software architect, from cloud-native micro-services on AWS to web-first application design (React / TypeScript, WebAssembly, the browser as a thick client). Comfortable taking and owning architecture decisions rather than only governing them, and translating them into regulated systems in production.
Selected results
- A platform four years late, put back on a date
- Took over a next-generation PLM roughly four years behind, with four major clients representing about half the revenue at risk and the board and executive team in open conflict. Left it with a taskforce of forty across three countries and a delivery trajectory the board could believe.
- A majority acquisition
- The technical demonstration and due diligence behind Carlyle's 2020 acquisition of 70% of MAK SYSTEM.
- From unsellable to market leader
- FDA 510(k) clearance took a blood-management platform from barred in the United States to market leader: 80%+ of American blood banks today, and 100% in Canada.
- 14 months, against a 36-month norm
- A product launched into an entirely new segment at a company whose usual cycle was three years. Revenue it had not had before.
- Up to 60% off database TCO
- Certified products moved from Oracle to PostgreSQL behind a database abstraction layer, opening a segment of smaller regional banks across Europe, Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa.
- 1,200 reports in six months
- A public-health platform I co-founded and built collected, across a tenth of the DRC's health zones, four times what the previous manual process collected nationwide in a year.
- 120 people, five countries
- R&D organisations up to 120 strong, with teams in France, the United States, the United Kingdom, India and the Balkans, run across time zones.
Experience
GenAI Strategy Lead · Interim CTO Practice
Since Feb 2026
INFORTIVE
A community of interim CIOs and CTOs. Member since January 2025.
Mandate Assess the GenAI landscape and build a structured offering that guides executive investment decisions.
- Assesses the landscape: analyses GenAI capabilities, vendors and real maturity to establish, with evidence, where the technology creates business value and where it does not.
- Builds the executive offering: turns that analysis into a structured approach for guiding decision-makers: where to invest, where to wait, how to avoid the risks of a moving and unproven technology.
- Anchors it in delivery reality: informed by building systems personally (GenAI generates code but does not yet build durable systems), so the advice holds in practice, not only in slides.
Interim CTO / Turnaround Lead
Nov 2025 to Mar 2026
TraceOne · France, UK & India
PLM software for retail and food. €35M revenue; 60+ technical staff (product owners, client teams, developers, QA) across three countries.
Mandate Unblock a next-generation product and resolve the governance crisis around it · ~5 months · handover to a permanent CTO.
- Restored alignment between board and executives and team morale: direct, regular dialogue with the board to defuse a conflict between directors and executive committee members over a PLM roughly four years late, a delay threatening four major clients representing about half of revenue. Re-motivated a team that no longer believed in the product.
- Built and led a taskforce to finish it: an international team (France / UK / India) of thirty engineers, architects and testers plus ten product managers, which put the platform on a credible delivery trajectory for the second half of 2026 where no achievable date had been in sight.
- Delivered a clean handover: diagnosis, validated trajectory and a working delivery team passed to an incoming permanent CTO.
Chief Technology Officer (interim) · Executive Committee
2021 to 2022
INTRASENSE · Montpellier, France
Medical imaging software. €5M revenue, 60 employees. A fragile single-product company whose radiology line had hit its revenue ceiling.
Mandate Modernise the technology base and lead a diversification through an R&D crisis · ~12 months · R&D moved to Scrum, POC published and certification files in progress on exit.
- Led the diversification through an R&D crisis: it nearly derailed against acute resistance inside the development team. Situation defused and alignment restored around the new direction: R&D restructured around Scrum, hiring and upskilling on the new methodology and on web technologies, and the difficult organisational decisions taken.
- Designed a new product to move up the value chain: with the radiology line at its ceiling, designed a product rooted in Intrasense's core but extending support to oncologists and care teams across the whole cancer pathway, from diagnosis to remission. That shift moved the company from a commoditised viewer to a strategic role in care, with an expected two to threefold revenue expansion. POC published late 2022.
- Moved the platform web-first: delivered as a fully web application, a first for Intrasense, running medical imaging in the browser as a thick client (React, WebAssembly), the browser acting as the radiology console.
- IEC 62304 / 13485 certification files submitted to notified bodies, putting the renewed platform on a compliant route to market.

MAK SYSTEM INTERNATIONAL · Paris, France
Blood and cell therapy management software. €40M revenue, 120 employees. Recalled by the chief executive to lead the next technology cycle.
Mandate Run a tactical bridge on the existing product while defining the next generation · multi-year · exit after the Carlyle majority acquisition.
- Cut database TCO by up to 60%: certified the products on PostgreSQL for blood banks leaving Oracle, behind a database abstraction layer. Opened the smaller blood-bank segment (regional banks in Europe, Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa) and reduced implementation and non-production costs, delivering immediate value while the next generation was built.
- Defined the next-generation platform: a strategy built on lower total cost of ownership, agility, time to market and geographic expansion (Africa, Asia, Latin America), architected cloud-native (containerised micro-services, API-first), upskilling key developers and recruiting cloud profiles.
- Widened the addressable market: a new cell-therapy product added to the catalogue, opening a clinical segment previously unserved.
- Passed investor due diligence: the technical demonstration and review behind Carlyle's acquisition of 70% of MAK SYSTEM in 2020; amount undisclosed.
Chief Technology Officer & Co-founder
2013 to 2015
JOULECO SA · Villepinte, France
Founded to build and market software for sub-Saharan markets. Cloud platform for public-health programme management, built from nothing.
- Built the product and the company from zero: a web platform taken from nothing to production in sub-Saharan Africa, one of the least technically forgiving regions. In service in Senegal (patient records) and the DRC (adverse events).
- Won and delivered a $400K assignment in the DRC: real revenue for a seed-stage startup, in a difficult market.
- Produced a step change in pharmacovigilance: across roughly a tenth of the country's health zones in six months, the platform collected 1,200 adverse-event reports, against roughly 300 nationwide across a full year under the previous manual process, which gave practitioners no incentive to report.

SOFTTHINKS · Villeneuve d'Ascq, France
Backup and recovery software. €10M revenue, 80 employees. A small company long asleep on past success, led through fundamental change.
Mandate Renew the product line and turn around an underperforming R&D organisation · ~21 months · new-segment product shipped and CMMI level 2 in place on exit.
- Opened a new revenue line: a product launched into an entirely new market segment in 14 months, against a usual cycle of roughly 36: revenue the company did not previously have.
- Rebuilt the R&D organisation end to end, from product definition through QA, recruiting new engineers and bringing existing teams up to speed on Agile and new technologies; CMMI level II (SCAMPI B) deployed for measurable process maturity.
- Built and led distributed France and United States teams (Austin, Texas): a Texan team built from scratch and senior developers recruited in France; cross-site collaboration established, inter-team friction resolved, and a near-continuous development cycle achieved across time zones.

Mandate Replatform the product suite to the web and clear it for the US market · ~3.5 years · FDA 510(k) obtained and the new generation deployed across North America and Europe.
- Opened and won the US market: FDA 510(k) clearance took a product from barred from sale in the United States to market leader: MAK SYSTEM holds 80%+ of the American blood-bank market today and 100% in Canada.
- Modernised the product suite to the web, replatforming a legacy architecture to open the way for the next product generation.
- Deployed a new product generation across North America and Europe, and reshaped the technical teams and client project delivery to sustain it.
