Beyond the Demo said what must be decided, and by whom. This companion article, for CTOs, CIOs and their teams, says what must be built so that those decisions hold for years, and so that a pilot can grow into production instead of being rebuilt.
Summary
Beyond the Demo described what must be decided, and by whom, before a GenAI system reaches its users. This article describes what must be built so that those decisions hold for years, and so that a pilot can grow into production instead of being rebuilt. Such a system has two sides: a knowledge base that turns raw data into trusted data, and answering software that gives a sourced answer, points to the source, or says it does not know. A contract connects them. Access rights, data leaving the company, quality and cost are engineered and measured from the first cycle, through a walking skeleton that grows from Crawl to Fly. Throughout, the business decides what is true and acceptable, and technology makes it hold.
